Part-time Language Program

Our Orton-Gillingham part-time Language Program replaces the language program delivered at the student’s school. The student remains registered at his/her school, and attends Claremont School only for language class 4x/week, Monday – Thursday. Students are taught phonics, vocabulary instruction, reading comprehension, spelling and written expression. This program is available for elementary students in the mornings.
Registration closes August 1st, 2022.

Writing Clinics

Written expression can be challenging for students. It is one of the most demanding skills, requiring a student to develop an idea or opinion, elaborate, spell, sequence and organize their thoughts. Some students find it difficult to develop their own ideas and need prompting and oral rehearsal before attempting an assignment. Whether writing is expository or narrative, we provide programs to enhance writing skills at elementary, high school, college or university level. Groups and individual lessons are offered throughout the year.

Grade 9 Transition

Students often experience difficulty with organization and time management as they transition to high school. We offer a 1-year mentorship, support service for Grade 9 students who need some additional academic support and strategies to gain independence.

Neil is a different boy from a year ago, not only because his reading is starting to come along, but because he is enjoying school and, once again, believes he can learn and succeed. Honestly, the Claremont School has been a god-send for Neil.

Our mission is to teach students with dyslexia, so that they may fulfill their considerable potential and gain the skills and self-confidence needed for academic success.

—Evelyn Reiss

A warm and exceptional teacher, Evelyn provided a wonderful overview of the Orton-Gillingham approach in her Associate Level course. I consider it a privilege to have been her student.

Claremont has given my child the best possible learning environment. His learning is tailored to his strengths and he feels positive about himself and his capabilities. The learning at Claremont is structured but also flexible, allowing for my child to succeed.

My grade 4 daughter is finally being taught in a way that she can learn. The school has been a gift for us all. The daily routines, the structured approach to reading and writing learning, and the positive environment with other kids like her have all been wonderfully helpful. It is a world of difference for us this year from her prior public school that just (tragically) did not have the adequate supports for her kind of learning.
